VOLUNTEER PLACEMENTS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
1. Ecocity volunteering. (minimum 2 months, must have intermediate or advanced level Spanish) putting up stickers, working with community groups and educating with the new ecocity guide book. Development of environmental education curriculum. Art skills are very useful for sign writing, mural painting.
2. Eco Schools Program (minimum 3 months, must have intermediate or advanced level Spanish)- teaching environmental education; local ecosystems, vegetable gardening, separation of paper for recycling, tree planting within the schools (see info re Ecoschools Program).
3. Art in Schools Program (minimum 1 month. Intermediate Spanish required) mural painting in schools and art and craft classes in primary schools.
4. Volunteer English teachers- For free primary school in Bahía de Caráquez Ecocity. This school is based on education in human values and is for children from very low income families. Longer term volunteers are preferred ( 2 months minimum ). Info- Lodging is with the owners of the school or a family stay.

COST
The contribution for food and board is $300 / month. A % of this fee will be used for materials.
ACCOMMODATION
Volunteers are accommodated with family stays or in independent apartments.
COORDINATION
Guacamayo Tours will arrange your placement and accommodation. It will also coordinate the ecoschools program, ecocity volunteering and art in schools program (options 1, 2 & 3) but options 4, 5 and 6 will be coordinated by the respective organization.

Want Spanish classes? Rio Muchacho and Guacamayo Tours works with VIDA VERDE ( Green Life Spanish School ) in Quito. The school makes contributions to social and environmental projects, one of which is the Environmental school in Rio Muchacho.
